Stock Market Update- Wednesday 7th September 2011
Today the markets traded voletile and performed very well with both benchmark indices gaining more than 1%. All sectors showed good buying, Realty was the biggest gainer of today's trade, IT and FMCG were the sectors to close in red. The CNX Midcap index closed with 1.5% gains and the BSE Smallcap index also gained 1.5% in today's trade. The Sensex closed at 17065 which is up by 202 points from its previous close and the Nifty settled at 5125 which is up by 60 points. The European markets are trading strong. The FTSE index is up by 51 points, DAX is up by 27 points and CAC index is up by 10 points. Today's Top Gainers were Jaiprakash Associates with +7.62%, Ambuja Cements Ltd. with +5.78%, ACC Ltd. with +4.87%, Steel Authority with +4.07%, Tata Power Co. with +3.76%. Top Loosers were Mahindra & Mahindra with -1.49%, ITC Ltd. with -1.36%, Infosys with -.48%, Tata Consultancy with -.28%, Bajaj Auto Ltd. with -.20%.
